Entrepreneurship can be learned: Indaver employees visit classes in Flanders

From January 15 to March 9, Indaver participates to the project “Ondernemers voor de Klas”. This initiative is organized by Vlajo, the Flemish organisation for young entrepreneurs, and seeks to stimulate an entrepreneurial mindset among young people in Flanders, by creating a closer relationship between schools, universities and private companies. 350 entrepreneurs will give 660 lectures to students of secondary schools, high schools and universities taking part in the project. For Indaver, this is an opportunity to share our company values and our experience of “sustainable” entrepreneurship.

A natural collaboration for Indaver

Young people worry out their future and have a lot of questions: what do companies expect? What skills do I need to succeed? And what does it mean to be an “Entrepreneur”? The best people to answer these questions? Of course, they are managers and entrepreneurs willing to share their own experience.

essenscia, the Belgian federation for chemical industries and Life sciences, supports this initiative. Indaver, as member of the federation, was naturally prone to participate as well, since entrepreneurship is part of our DNA: employees, such as Alain Konings and Rob Kruitwagen, are perfect examples of this entrepreneurial mindset. On January 24, Alain is a guest of the Broederschool Biotechnische & Sport in Sint-Niklaas. Rob is speaking at the Athénée of Brasschaat on January 29.

An entrepreneurial mindset is key

You don’t have to be a business leader or a manager to qualify as “Entrepreneur”. All company employees can be entrepreneurial. At Indaver, we describe an entrepreneur as a person who can see and seize opportunities, who takes initiatives, is result-oriented and finds creative solutions to problems. This is how an employee creates value for its company, its clients and society as a whole. This individual is open and creates innovation: an essential trait for a company in order to survive in a complex and constantly evolving market.

On the importance of personal initiative at Indaver, Rob says: “An entrepreneurial mindset is crucial for us: our employees are in fact the ones who design and implement solutions for the future.”

With the initiative “Ondernemers voor de Klas”, we are able to give young people insight in our company’s activities and share with them our vision of entrepreneurship.
