As a business we grow by continually refining our processes, by evaluating them and organising them more efficiently. That way we are able to meet our customers’ and society’s expectations better, to improve our service provision and to keep costs down. This strengthens our stakeholders’ faith in our organisation and helps to prepare us for expansion into new sites and into more complex service provision.

Broad network of facilities

Indaver has high-tech treatment facilities throughout Europe. For the treatment of more specialised waste flows we rely on our network of partners in Belgium and abroad. This network of facilities allows us to treat waste flows for international customers as well, thereby minimising transport of their waste. We regularly subject all our network partners to in-depth audits so that we can guarantee our customers that their waste is being processed properly and in compliance with the relevant laws and regulations.  

Materials and energy recovery

Indaver recovers materials from waste for the purpose of recycling or useful application. For each waste flow we select the most sustainable treatment technology. Efficient sorting and purification ensure high-quality end-products, ready for reuse or recycling. Whenever possible, we deploy innovative technologies for recovering energy from waste.

Quality and Performance

Indaver always opts for the best available technology for treating the waste flows of its customers. We keep pace with technological innovations, legal amendments and social developments. We renew and improve our installations continuously, in order to increase our ability to recover even more materials and energy from waste and to achieve better performance in treating waste flows.

Continuous improvement: Lean Six Sigma

With Lean Six Sigma we tackle complex recurring problems using a systematic and structured approach. We thereby improve the efficiency of our facilities and processes, or we increase profitability or compliance. Our staff look proactively for ways to improve the processes in their own or other departments and to make them more efficient. We want them automatically to question why they are doing what they are doing and whether there is a better way. There are Yellow Belts, Green Belts or Black Belts working on LSS projects in all of Indaver’s regions. Black Belts lead large-scale, often international project improvements; Green Belts conduct more targeted improvements within regions and within departments. In 2017, we also added Yellow Belts, who conduct simple improvement projects to help teams find a quick solution. Using this LSS approach they are even better trained to see opportunities for improvement and they can concentrate even more on structural improvements.

Energy efficiency

CO2 is the main greenhouse gas responsible for climate change. Ninety percent of this gas is emitted from energy applications. The more energy-efficient our installations, processes and buildings become, the more we can limit CO2 emission. Indaver is constantly looking for ways to keep its own energy consumption as low as possible. That is why Indaver scrutinises its installations and processes on an ongoing basis to see how we can improve our energy management.
